This project was created for “Brooklyn Utopias: Transit”, an exhibition curated by Katherine Gressel, about our ideal Brooklyn. As a former long term resident I participated and created a phenakistiscope that rotates like a wheel. A 19th century optical toy and a device from cinematic history, the viewer looks into a small gap in the wheel and spins it. In a mirror behind it, the image shown was a moving solar powered scooter/motorcycle driving past the Brooklyn Museum. Here i used an old technology to talk about a new one. The vehicle is covered to protect against the rain.

I hope I can make more of these one day!
